Top lecturer and health educator Deanna Latson will speak at Gustavus Adolphus College on Thursday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union.

Latson is a nationally known presenter who has spoken to more than 100,000 people throughout the country, including at more than 300 colleges and universities. She is a clinically certified nutritionist, a member of the Wellness Council of America, and has a master’s degree from San Francisco State University, where she was an instructor for five years.

Latson speaks about what foods people can eat to stay fit, be energized, and perform well academically and athletically. It is through her personal story of struggles with nutrition and an eating disorder, and her ability to restore herself to a healthy lifestyle through treating her body like an investment in the future, that she hopes to empower her audience to make life-changing decisions to reach their optimum health and vitality.

Event organizer Keisha Bates ’11 states, “Gustavus students pride themselves in being well-rounded, passionate students. We believe that by hearing Deanna’s unique perspective, all can expand their knowledge about their own personal health.  Most importantly, we hope students will walk away with the practical knowledge that will allow them to make permanent lifestyle changes that will play a pivotal role in the attainment of their academic, athletic, and life goals.”

This event is free and open to the public, however priority seating will be given to Gustavus students, faculty, and staff.  Latson’s visit to campus is sponsored by the Peer Assistants, Campus Activities Board, and Dining Services.
