Football Team Takes Undefeated Record Into Homecoming Game Posted on October 3rd, 2014 by

Gustavus Football HelmetThe Gustavus Adolphus College football team will host Carleton College for its Homecoming game at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Hollingsworth Field. Gustavus enters the game with a record of 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the MIAC–the team’s best start since 1998 when the Gusties started 4-0 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC. Carleton enters the game with a record of 1-2.

Gustavus’s hot start is due in part to the team’s prolific passing game through the first four games of the season. Junior quarterback Mitch Hendricks has completed 78.8 percent of his passes so far this season for 1,584 yards and 20 touchdowns. He set single game school records in last week’s 55-31 victory over Augsburg for passing yards (504) and touchdown passes (7).

The team also has a pair of wide receivers who are putting up big numbers, who happen to be twin brothers. Junior Matt Boyce has 35 receptions for 559 yards and nine touchdowns through four games. His brother, junior Gabe Boyce has 36 receptions for 467 yards and five touchdowns.

You can read more about Saturday’s game as Sports Information Director Ethan Armstrong has posted a preview story on the Gustavus Athletics website.
