It's that time of year again. Yes, first-year student move-in day and New Student Orientation is upon us here at Gustavus Adolphus College and that means it's time for the Gustie Greeters to do their thing.

Gustavus Family Mourns the Death of Former President Frank R. Barth

Frank R. Barth, the tenth president of Gustavus Adolphus College, died on August 22, 2013, at Heritage Manor in Dubuque, Iowa. A longtime educator and business leader and the first non-clergy member to be elected to the presidency of Gustavus, he served the College from 1969 to 1975. He was 95 years old at the time of his death.

Gustavus Welcomes Class of 2017

Approximately 650 first-year students will arrive in St. Peter on the morning of Friday, Aug. 30 to begin their college journey at Gustavus Adolphus College. New Student Orientation will take place Aug. 30 through Sept. 2. The first day of classes for the 2013-14 academic year is Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Gustavus Announces Three New Endowed Positions

Gustavus Adolphus College President Jack Ohle recently announced that the College has established three new endowed teaching positions. President Ohle announced the news to the campus community at the College’s annual President’s Colloquium on Wednesday, Aug. 28.

Gustavus Ranked Highly by Washington Monthly Magazine

Gustavus Adolphus College was ranked the 56th best liberal arts college in the country recently by Washington Monthly magazine.

Crystal Gildea Polski ’04 Wins Fulbright Teaching Award

Crystal Polski '04 recently received a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching that will allow her to travel to Finland for six months in 2014. Polski is just one of hundreds of educators in the state of Minnesota who earned their undergraduate degree at Gustavus.

Gustavus at the Minnesota State Fair

Gustavus Adolphus College will again have a presence in the Education Building at the Minnesota State Fair. Make plans to stop and visit between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Aug. 22-Sept. 2. The Gustavus booth will be giving away Gustavus themed clip clips and tattoos this year.

Summer Research Opportunities Enhance Academic Experience

An increasing number of Gustavus Adolphus College students are opting to live in St. Peter during the summer months in order to gain valuable experience conducting research alongside faculty members.

A Summer Internship and a Love of Cars

A love of cars spurred Gustavus Adolphus College senior Marley Clark to pursue a prestigious summer internship with Chrysler Group, LLC in Michigan. The Glencoe native is on track to graduate next spring with a degree in management and plans to establish a career in the automotive industry.
