Football Team Ends Season on Winning Note

The Gustavus Adolphus College football team concluded the 2009 season on Saturday with a dramatic, come-from-behind 20-19 victory over Concordia College.

Jazz Concert Scheduled for Saturday

The Gustavus Jazz Lab Band and the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble, both directed by Steve Wright, will present their combined fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Hunger and Homelessness Week

The 12th annual Hunger and Homelessness Week is underway at Gustavus Adolphus College and will run through Thursday, Nov. 19. The signature event of the week is the annual “Sleep Out,” which began Sunday night.

Discover Saint Peter Celebration Set for Saturday

With the reconstruction of Highway 169 nearing completion, a “Discover Saint Peter Holiday Celebration” is planned for Saturday, Nov. 14 along Minnesota Avenue from Union Street to Jefferson Avenue.

Forensics Team Places Seventh at Prestigious L.E. Norton Tournament

The Gustavus Adolphus College forensics team placed seventh out forty teams at the prestigious L.E. Norton Memorial Tournament on Nov. 7-8 on the campus of Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

Eleven Confirmed for Gubernatorial Candidates Forum

Gustavus Adolphus College will host a nonpartisan forum for officially declared Minnesota gubernatorial candidates at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9. The forum will be free and open to the public and will take place in Alumni Hall, located in the O.J. Johnson Student Union. The event will also be streamed live on the Gustavus website.

Gustavus Named a National Top 40 Private College Value

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine recently released a special report ranking the top 50 private liberal arts colleges in the country by “best value.” Gustavus Adolphus College ranked 40th on the list.

Sacred Steps on the Camino Exhibit Now Open

An opening exhibition service to mark the beginning of the Sacred Steps on the Camino exhibit will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 in Christ Chapel at Gustavus Adolphus College. The exhibit will be on campus Nov. 4-18.

Tori Sanzone ’96 Returing for Weeklong Residency

Toriano Sanzone, a 1996 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, will return to his alma mater for a weeklong residency Nov. 9-12. Sanzone will give a public reading from his recently published book, Wolfkeeper, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 in the International Center Lounge.

Forensics Team Performs Well in Virginia

The Gustavus Adolphus College forensics team continued to assert itself as one of the top collegiate forensics programs in the country on Oct. 31-Nov. 1 at the Match Made in Heaven Tournament at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.
