Gustavus Music Showcase to be Presented at Orchestra Hall Posted on January 9th, 2006 by

Gustavus Adolphus College and the Department of Music are taking the Gustavus Music Showcase 2006 to Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m.

The showcase will feature the College’s three premier international touring ensembles—the Gustavus Choir, the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, and the Gustavus Wind Orchestra.

“The Gustavus Music Showcase is a special opportunity for musicians at Gustavus to display their musical talents for a new audience in an exciting venue,” said Gustavus Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Colin McGuire. “Performing on this stage is an amazing honor for us at Gustavus,” added the senior violinist.

Gustavus Choir alto Anna Poganski agreed. “It is important for students to have professional experiences in college to help them grow and to appreciate the work that goes into a professional performance.”

Poganski, a senior, is most looking forward to the interaction between performers and audience members. “My desire for this showcase is to have a great time performing with my colleagues, to get to know musicians from the other main ensembles, and to mingle with the guests who come to our performance.” A post-concert reception for all guests and performers will provide a unique opportunity for prospective students to speak with the performers and conductors and for alumni to visit with each other and other College community members.

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students 18 and under. Call the Orchestra Hall box office at 612/371-5656 or 800/292-4141 for ticket information and reservations.
